Will a faulty washer Solenoid Fill Valve cause the pipes to sound like a noisy machine gun when the washer is filling or when rinsing? I have checked the pipes in the basement and all straps are tight. Using any other faucets does not cause the pipes to sound off. Water pressure is very low in sinks when the washer is filling.

Start to fill the washer with cold water and note the flow of water.
Now do the same with the hot water. Let me know how the washer is filling with each one. Use the Cold and Hot, not the automatic temperature settings.

What it sounds like is if you have it on auto temp cold, it will not will with just cold water. It will actually turn the hot water side of the valve on and off to make the temperature slightly warmer than completely cold.

Let me know if that makes sense, I can try to explain it again if need be. Also, let me know what you find out.

Thanks,
Bill
