Maytag Smooth top triple element heating problem

MER5775RAQ 30" smooth top electric range.

The inner elements of the triple element is not heating. Need to know if it's the element or do I need to troubleshoot the control for that element also.

The element is $177 from Maytag, hate to spend that money to find out it's the control.

One way to tell would be to visually inspect the element for any broken spots in the coil of metal that make up the element itself. When you are looking at the top of the element when it is removed from the cook top you will see if there is a problem with that or not.

More than likely you will find the problem is with the element.
