Frigidaire in door ice dispenser panel removal Mod #FRS26ZGED3

bhadley

I need instructions on removing the in-door ice dispenser assembly on my old Frigidaire...must be a secret to it as it is sure not obvious. I popped off the top access cover and can see that the Ice Door Wire is rusted in half and needs to be replaced, but I cannot figure out how to remove the assembly. I tried removing the 4 screws in the front of the black module and the two small screws under it that attach it to the faceplate, It was loose, but cannot clear the face plate to remove it. Looks like the entire faceplate has to be removed to get at it from the back side. I have removed the two screws in the curve of the face plate alcove, but no joy. The assembly is still in tight as ever.

Happy New Year and I appreciate any help!

Bill
