I have a Kenmore, Mod.500 washer. It will not automatically go from the agitate to the rinse /spin mode. We have to manually turn the dial to drain and then it is fine thru the rest of the cycle. ??

Hello,
Check to make sure the cold water valve is working. Start the machine with the selector switch on cold/cold.
Let me know how you make out.

Water temp selector is on cool setting. Machine fills with water, goes to wash/agitate mode and stays in that mode until we manually move the dial to rinse mode. I have not tried to wash in any of the other settings to see if it runs thru the full cycle.
