I have a Roper dryer model number REX3514RQ1. The dryers timer stopped working and it only blows cold air. I was told to check the fuses but I don't know where they are. Can you please help me.

You want to check the fuse box on your house. Locate the dryer circuits, turn the breaker to the dryer off, then back on. Even if it doesn't look kicked, do it anyway.

As far as the timer not moving, is that in automatic settings or on timed dry?

Let me know what you how you make out with that and we can go from there.

I checked the fuse box and I flipped off then on again, it turns on but its only cold air, The dryer timer is on timed cycle and it just continues to run as if it was on one of the cycled settings. Are their fuses inside the unit to check?

You are going to have to grab a multi-meter to move on from here. Let me know if you are able to gain access to the inside of the machine or if you need help with that.

Thanks,
Bill

Thanks bill, I have removed both back panels, top one exposing the controls and the bottom one exposing the motor housing and wiring to the motor. Can I get that meter at home depot or lowes.

Yeah, you can pick them up for about 10 - 15 dollars for one that will work for what you need.

Basically we are going to be checking to see if the heater is getting the proper voltage to determine if the heater is bad or if there is not enough voltage getting to the heater.

Hey Bill, did the tests and I get no reading when I check the heater all the thermostats test at a 3. Guess that means I need a new heater.

Your not that far from me so your looking at a $5 shipping charge.

You know how to take the heater off?

There should be a screw on the left side of the heater just above the thermostat.

Take out that screw and the heater is going to come right off.

If you want that heater just send me an email to appliance.outlet@yahoo.com and I'll send a paypal invoice to you.

From there once payment is received I'll ship it right out.

Thanks,
Bill

Once you replace the heater the timer will advance. If there isn't voltage running through the circuit(heater) the orange wire isn't sending power to the timer motor to advance it.

Hey Bill, I got the part thank you, Can you explain how to remove the thermostat from the old one?

There should be the same size screw holding it on, as is holding the heater on to the main duct assembly. You are just going to remove the only screw on the one end and slide it out of the slot it sets in.

Let me know if that helps, if not I will try to make a quick video with my dryer to show you.

I'll be available the rest of the evening.
