My Maytag washer (LA309) is 33 years old and still going strong. But the other day it began making a horrible whine during the spin cycle. We made sure nothing was stuck in any of the tub holes, or in-between the 2 tubs.
We have replaced the drive belt and the pump belt, checked out the pump and it looks fine (no broken fins, no debris, turns easily) and water empties out of the machine normally. My husband thinks its the pump, but I'm thinking its something like bad bearings. Can a pump make a horrible noise, and still drain water normally?
Thanks!
