Refrigerator Thermistor

My refrigerator compartment is freezing items. I was told by an appliance part store to replace the thermistor on the side walls. The existing thermistor is attached to a small blue plastic fitting. Do I pull the wire from this fitting or is the attachment behind the fitting?
