loud humming sound coming from freezer part of GE side by side

GE Profile side by side refrigerator making constant humming sound coming from freezer side. I cleaned the coils of dust, sound gets softer then after a while gets loud again. This refrigerator is 19 yrs old & I never had to make any repairs to it. The ice maker is working OK & the food on both sides of refrigerator are cold. What could be causing this kind of problem?
